26.07.2021

Wilhelmshaven – Last week the second container train from the Chinese province of Anhui reached JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven. This was the second train in 8 days to arrive after travelling on the new land connection between Hefei and JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven.
The JadeWeserPort marketing company signed various cooperation agreements with Chinese companies on 16 July 2021. For example, the Anhui Provincial Port & Shipping Group Co., Ltd. and the China Logistics Co., Ltd. signed a letter of intent on the further development of the “China Logistics -Wilhelmshaven Hub” logistics centre. A lively discussion on the topic of sustainable and innovative logistics also took place.
In addition, the JadeWeserPort marketing company has entered a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chinese company Hefei International Land Port Development Co., Ltd. (HILP). The aim of this agreement is to further expand and stabilize container train traffic between the Chinese province of Anhui and Wilhelmshaven.

Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH (JWPM), Dr. Bernd Althusmann, was very pleased about the contract signing:
“The signing of the various cooperation agreements between the state-owned JadeWeserPort marketing company and its Chinese partners is a strong sign of mutual trust. This is also necessary to establish a permanent direct train link between the Chinese province of Anhui and JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven. The contracts confirm the competitiveness of Germany’s only deep-water container port, which, thanks to its optimal hinterland connections, also offers Chinese customers ideal conditions as part of the rail-based “One Belt One Road” initiative. “
