Holger Banik to take over as Managing Director of JadeWeserPort-Marketinggesellschaft from May 2026.
Holger Banik will be taking over as managing director of the state-owned Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG (JWP-M) with effect from 1 May 2026, succeeding Marc-Oliver Hauswald, who has led the company since August 2023. Mr Hauswald’s employment will end as scheduled upon the expiration of his fixed-term contract.
Holger Banik, 58, is a native of Bremen and is intimately familiar with the port landscape of Lower Saxony. He has been managing director of the JadeWeserPort Realisierungs GmbH & Co. KG and Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG since 1 January 2014. After leaving school, Mr Banik completed his apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and, following military service, studied business administration in Marburg and Gießen. Between 1996 and 2007 he gained extensive management experience in rail freight transport at Deutsche Bahn AG in the areas of finance, controlling, commercial affairs, planning and reporting. In 2007 he joined the port management company bremenports GmbH & Co. KG as commercial director, subsequently assuming the role of commercial managing director in 2011. Going forward, Banik will also be responsible for the port’s marketing, business development, and the development of the areas within the freight village at JadeWeserPort.
Grant Hendrik Tonne, Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Supervisory Board at JWP-M, stated: “I thank Marc-Oliver Hauswald for his work and dedication during a significant phase for the port. I am very pleased that we have achieved a seamless transition in management: Holger Banik is an experienced and successful port manager with broad expertise in the maritime industry. He is an absolute expert on Wilhelmshaven and understands the historical and current context of JadeWeserPort. His future responsibilities will include, in particular, marketing. I am firmly convinced that Wilhelmshaven will continue to develop positively. The focus is now on the development areas in the freight village and other company-owned land on the Voslapper Groden, as well as planning for the expansion of JadeWeserPort to meet current needs. I wish Holger Banik every success in his new role – he can count on a strong and committed team on site. I look forward to our continued and expanded collaboration.”
Holger Banik is looking forward to his new responsibilities: “This will combine the overall responsibility of the two JadeWeserPort companies. The site is clearly experiencing growth and, with this momentum, I want to further advance the development of businesses in the freight village.”
